Blast Testing

With the widespread use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in modern military conflict the need for improved blast protection both inside and outside of the vehicle has become critical. New devices and protective systems are being developed and introduced to mitigate blast loading. With the use of instrumented manikins and relevant injury analysis, Biokinetics can determine the effectiveness of these devices by controlled laboratory simulations or full-scale blast testing.

The following are examples of protective systems that we can evaluate:

  • Helmets
  • Face shields
  • Protective vests
  • Vehicle floor mats
  • Vehicle occupant protection
  • Vehicle seating systems
  • De-mining footwear
