Blunt force impact to the head may cause skull fracture and underlying brain injuries. The BLSH assesses the risk of blunt head trauma from blunt loading such as from kinetic energy less-lethal ammunition and from direct head impacts. The headform is mounted onto a flexible neck and contains force sensors on the skull at five locations to measure contact force, distribution and impulse in order to assess injury risk. It is available in three sizes and a force verification system is available to ensure system operation.
